The world renowned Apollo Theater is a national landmark and one of the most renowned music halls in the world. Some of the most iconic figures in the music business started off at the Apollo Theater, including acts such as the Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, Lauren Hill, and so forth.
If you’ve been following up on Sung’s journey through the Amateur Night Competition, you may already know that he has won 1st place in “Amateur Night at the Apollo” on May 14th,” which allowed him to advance to “Amateur Night: SHOW-OFF.”
The show-off competition was held yesterday, May 28th, 2014. With an audience loudness meter reading of 91/100, Sung won 1st place again, making it 2 consecutive Amateur Night winnings in a row. He will now advance to “Amateur Night: TOP DOG,” the semi-final round which will take place on July 30th. If he is able to place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the TOP DOG round, he will advance to the final round and have a chance to compete for the $10,000 prize. After a series of auditions both online and live, Sung Lee has been selected as one of the Top 6 Finalists of Kollaboration NY 9. Kollaboration is the premiere nationwide talent contest for Asians & Pacific Islanders and a global platform to empower and connect AAPI artists to be better represented in media. Winners from each major city get a chance to perform in the grand finale in L.A. to compete for a $10,000 prize!

On May 14th, 2014, Sung Lee competed in “Amateur Night at the Apollo,” in the world famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. There were 8 total competitors and 3 more in the Child Star category. To his surprise, Sung finished 1st place, winning the crowd over with a audience loudness meter reading of 99/100. He will now advance to the next round, Amateur Night: SHOW OFF, which will take place on May 28th, 2014. Support Sung for his next round!
